INNOVATION COMES NATURALLY TO PLASTIVAN
Plastic fencing systems have come a long way over the years with the latest products from Plastivan, part of its Duofuse range, proving that innovation really does come naturally.
It’s 30 years since the Belgian firm, founded in 1966, set up shop in the UK as part of an ambitious international expansion into Europe. Three decades on and the Bristol-based business is thriving thanks to an ever-evolving range of plastic construction and landscaping products.
UK Sales Manager Jason Ell, a veteran of almost 15 years with Plastivan took up the story: “We focus on the supply of plastic products and already offer an established range of composite decking and various types of garden fencing panels.
“These are available in just 4 standard WPC colourways, which is why we wanted to make the new range more distinctive and give it a premium look using a high-definition printed wood effect look.
“Specially designed plastic slats have been developed for the Duofuse garden fencing on which we print high -definition photorealistic motifs.
“The panels are indistinguishable from real wood and because we only use part of the photo for each plank, all the panels look different.
“Only when you touch the panels do you miss the relief and understand that they are imitations.
“The big advantage of the printed planks over real wood is that it does not weather and is incredibly low maintenance. Minimal discolouration occurs from UV and other climatic influences.
“We’ve been using this printed technique for over 3 years now, with our ranges of DURASID FORESTA cladding and it has already proven itself,” added Jason.
The new tongue and groove section is hollow inside and each plank is reinforced with a steel box section in one of the chambers.
The printed boards are 2 metres long and 250mm high with a small V groove in the middle.
“This way a 2m high fence appears to consist of 16 narrow wooden boards when in reality there are only eight boards.”
The slats are locked at the top and bottom by two aluminium sections for extra strength. The closing sections now come in two variations with an additional set between which you can mount the boards vertically.
“That immediately gives the fencing a completely different look.
The printed tongue and groove boards fit into our existing aluminium posts of the Duofuse range and come in four patterns: Woodland Oak, Grey Cedar, Barnwood Grey and African Padauk.
“We have always been an innovative company. It’s in the Belgian DNA to innovate and evolve products so we are never standing still. No one else can make products like this.
“There’s already been a lot of interest in the new range. They do look stylish and natural and make for a practical and aesthetic addition to any garden.
“This is something different. In real life, things are not always as they seem but the new range really does offer that natural wood feel.”
